As with any forums, there are always some rules that need to be put in place and it seems as though the classifieds on all forums require more attention than others. So, with that being said, the following ground rules are being set for the Classified Section of these forums.
First and foremost, HONESTY is of the utmost importance. If you are selling a car or automotive part, or anything here for that matter, it is of the utmost importance that you are honest in the description of the item you are selling. If the car you are selling needs work that can't be seen to the naked eye, be honest and divulge the info before someone commits to buying it. If the part you're selling is not in perfect condition, be honest in your description and say so. Having personally been ripped off by someone on an automotive enthusiast message board for a part for one of my Monte Carlo's, I can speak from experience when I say it's not fun having to involve police agencies and other government offices to recoup my money. Remember, when you post an ad, put yourself in the potential buyer's shoes. Would you appreciate someone not being honest in their description of the item they were selling? Pictures also go a long way in showing the actual condition of the item you are selling. Take advantage of this added feature here.
Secondly, if you are a potential buyer, be honest about your ACTUAL intentions. If you are HOPING to have enough money to buy a part or a car and are waiting for certain circumstances to come to fruition, be honest with the seller and let them know. Don't string someone along and keep giving them the impression that you have the funds and means to get what is being sold. If you are short on cash, be honest. it has been my experience that if someone is selling something and you are honest with them regarding your financial situation, they will most likely work with you. It only creates hard feelings when someone is strung along by a person who simply doesn't have the cash to purchase the item being sold.
GOOD SELLER/BAD SELLER Rules:
If you purchase a car or other item from a fellow forum member here, it's only common decency to post your experience here for all to read. If the experience was good, then make sure everyone knows how enjoyable it was to conduct a transaction with that person. If a transaction went awry, please be honest in your description of events and so forth. More often than not, there are extenuating circumstances which contribute to hard feelings when buying and selling online. Please make sure you exhaust ALL avenues before publicly labeling someone as a bad seller or buyer. A little respect goes a long way when dealing with this topic.
Finally, this is not E-Bay. Please do not post auction type listings here for your cars or parts. This only creates hard feelings and there is no place here for bidding wars. If it comes to the Administrators' attention that this is taking place, the offending member will be warned and the item being listed will be removed immediately. If it happens again, that member will lose the privelage of buying or selling on this forum.
In closing, it appears these rules are pretty simple to follow. Unfortunately, from time to time the rules are overlooked and trouble brews. We are hoping each member here takes the time to read these few simple rules and chooses to abide by those rules when posting in the Classified Section. Failing to do wo will ultimately result in the member being warned and if problems persist, the administrators reserve the right to take more appropriate action, up to and including the removal of the Classified Section altogether.
